OVERVIEW
Cake is an online platform that gives independent insurance agents and agencies more control over buying and selling their books of business. In an industry that’s largely relationship and paper based, an online marketplace that facilitates discovery and acquisitions is one of, if not the first of its kind.
Cake hired Bloom to help them overhaul the entirety of their platform and help bring product strategy and vision to life. To date, Cake has raised 1.3 million dollars. Illustration & render work done by wizard Marco Luna.

CENTRALIZED DATA STORAGE
When we started working with Cake, listing and upload flows were done manually, and once published, listings weren’t aggregated in a single area to manage efficiently. The idea of centralized book management was priority #1 to help sellers get situated on the platform
EXTRACTING VALUE WITH SLICES
Cake allows agents to value, buy, and list fractions of their books of business – or slices – something that isn’t the norm in the industry today, but a very practical way for allowing buyers and sellers to optimize their book. Users can create their own, or start from Cake made Suggested Slices which help them learn the concept from the jump.
A NOVEL INDUSTRY MARKETPLACE
To better match buyers and sellers (and learn more about them in the process), we focus on building Buyer Profiles within onboarding. At the end of the process, users can view listings on the marketplace, which for the industry is a largely new concept.
DRIVING BUYER ACTIVITY
Depending on subscription type and client type, listing details provide buyers with high level insights around alignment with their profiles and performance in the market, to try and spur activity. In addition, pushes to the inbox and paywalls in the right places try and drive growth.
